Terms of Service

Welcome to Splitful. These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Liondel Inc. ("Liondel", "we", "us", or "our"), the operator of Splitful, the mobile app and website at splitful.app (the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use Splitful. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent's or guardian's permission.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate information at signup
• Keeping your phone number current
• Maintaining the security of your account and any device used to access it
• All activity that occurs under your account

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. How Splitful Works

Splitful lets you create groups ("hangs"), invite friends, log shared expenses, and request payments. Splitful is a coordination tool — we do not process payments between you and other users (you do that via your preferred payment app), and we are not a party to any transaction or debt between users.

4. SMS / Text Messaging Program

By providing your mobile number and affirmatively opting in, you agree to receive recurring transactional text messages from Splitful by Liondel Inc.

Message types include:

• Account verification codes (one-time passwords)
• Hang invitations and RSVP confirmations
• Expense split notifications
• Payment requests and payment confirmations
• Account and security alerts

Frequency: message frequency varies based on your activity in the app.

Opt-out: reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. You will receive a confirmation message and no further texts (other than a final acknowledgment). You can also disable SMS notifications under Settings → Notifications in the app.

Help: reply HELP to any message or email [email protected].

Costs: message and data rates may apply per your mobile carrier plan. You are solely responsible for any carrier charges.

Carrier disclaimer: mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is subject to carrier availability and your device's capability.

Supported carriers: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, and most major U.S. mobile carriers. Compatibility may vary.

Privacy: see the Privacy Policy for how we handle your phone number and SMS data. We do not share mobile opt-in data with third parties for marketing.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or deceptive purposes
• Use Splitful to send spam, harass, or abuse other users
• Attempt to access another user's account or our systems without authorization
• Scrape, copy, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service
• Upload content that infringes another person's rights or violates law
• Use the Service to circumvent collections, fraud detection, or any law

6. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit (hang names, expense descriptions, photos, comments). By submitting content, you grant Liondel a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content within and as part of operating the Service.

You are responsible for what you post. We may remove content that violates these Terms.

7. Disputes Between Users

Splitful is a coordination tool. Any debt, payment, refund, or disagreement between users is solely between those users. Liondel is not responsible for resolving disputes, recovering money, or guaranteeing payment.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIONDEL INC. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) $100 USD OR (B) AMOUNTS YOU PAID LIONDEL IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Liondel Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claim or demand arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, except where prohibited by law.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
